Hey y'all, a little about me and an update

“Have camera, will travel”! Yep, a cliche of an instagram bio, but it’s true. I’m traveling a bit this year and I’d love photograph your family!

I’ve got some dates booked so far and will have more down the line, and I would absolutely love to meet new people, families, couples that want some fun, easy breezy portraits.

A little about me if we have yet to meet:

I’ve recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest to help care for my aging parents. It has been a shock to my system to move from the South Bay of Los Angeles to a tiny rural community in western Oregon. It’s been a couple of years and I absolutely love that I am here and available for my family, and to be able explore these amazing green, pine-tree laden places, and a food/drink and music scene in a small big city of Portland has been so very exciting!

I absolutely love every facet of my career. I’ve been photographing professionally for almost 20 years; I adore documenting families in all stages, whether that’s a newly engaged couple, weddings, pregnancies with first, second, or even third babies, and all of your extended families. In my time caring for my parents, I realize just how important it is to document your time family time together, wether thats your blood family, or chosen family, you don’t get that time back, capture moments together while you have them.

I’ve recently added a new facet to my photo career: live music and band photography. I had no idea this was as exciting as it is until I started it, and wowzers, it is as exhilarating as my time in photojournalism. Starting this is just as difficult as any new venture, but I’ve never shied away from a challenge and this has to be one of the best, most fun challenges so far. I’ve been able to explore Portland in a way that I never thought to explore a city, and that is through music and it’s venues. I’ve had the opportunity to meet some super cool musicians, hang out and try to not be super awkward. The Portland scene and creatives have been extremely kind and welcoming to this super talkative stranger.

I love music! I follow my favorite band, CAAMP, around the country as much as I can and am extremely lucky to be able to do so. When I first started traveling for the music, I thought it was just going from one venue to another and hopefully meeting the band, I NEVER thought about the community I’d get to build through a mutual admiration for a band. I have met some of the best people in my travels, and can easily call some CAAMPERS my closest friends. I am inspired and in awe by the people I’ve met, and the stories they’ve shared with me. I”m so very grateful to each and every one of them.

I’d love to say hello, drop a line, give the ole double tap on the socials, check out my new venture www.americananow.org and @americana_now

Talk soon, and next I’ll update the travel schedule and it would be amazing if we can get together for some portraits.
